Weekly Adoption and Fostering Update ADOPTIONS AND FOSTERING Happy Valentine's Day ADOPTIONS AND FOSTERING We have five lucky hounds with new homes this week! Congratulations to Fly, Dusty, Ginny, Elliott and Quentin. It is a blessing that we have so many wonderful foster families, adoption coordinators and families welcoming these sweet greys into their homes. On the fostering front, we currently have 18 hounds in foster care. We are always in need of other loving foster families! CGA is in desperate need of Foster Homes! If you have been a foster in the past, or if you are interested in fostering, please consider now a good time to investigate foster opportunities! We need fosters for 2 reasons: 1) We need fosters that can be available for relinquishments and older dogs. Relinquishments seem to run in bunches, and we are often pressed for foster homes on such short notice. These are typically easy dogs to foster as they have been in a home, and just need to adjust to new living arrangements. Also, we are seeing many kennels either moving, closing or downsizing their operations. As a result, they are retiring hounds that they were using for breeding. These dogs are a little older than our typical kennel dogs, and may be in foster a little longer. They do, however, still have all of the wonderful qualities of an older dog, and will most times prove to be an easier foster dog. 2) In general, we are in SERIOUS need of fosters without cats! The good majority of our current active fosters have cats! There are many dogs waiting in the kennels for months, and the only reason that they can't come in is because they can't live with cats. We need fosters without cats so that more of the wonderful dogs waiting to start their new lives can come in. While we can use new fosters of any type, we REALLY NEED FOSTERS WITHOUT CATS! Thank you so much for considering these fostering opportunities! Your participation directly allows us to help more greyhounds find their forever homes! Rori Mattson The first step to bringing in retired racers from the kennels is having an available foster family to teach them the important lessons about enjoying life in a home and becoming cherished members of a family! If you know anyone who would enjoy fostering greyhounds, please have them contact Beth Morgan, CGA's foster set-up coordinator, or you may access plenty of greyt information about fostering from the CGA website. With so many greys waiting to begin their lives as pad potatoes and learn important life lessons, we can use every volunteer's help in recruiting their friends, family, co-workers, etc. to become foster families. UPCOMING EVENTS We have many new events coming up! The Rocky Mountain Cluster Dog Show is February 16th and 17th. There are only 2 dogs per shift. More info to come soon Speaking of the show… The dog show is being held at the National Western Stock Show Complex in the Expo Hall located on Humboldt St at E 47th Ave. We are only allowed to have 2 dogs per shift due to space limitations.
